Everybody has a different face shape, which is complimented by the hairstyle you choose. The main face shapes we see are oval, heart, round, square and long. The way your hair falls around the face helps highlight your features, but it also helps to hide the things we don't like.
The universal 'perfect cut' will suit almost all face shapes. These include styles which fall just below the chin and are softly layered around the face.
This type of style makes your face appear slimmer, therefore making it look less rounded. Short wispy flicks around the face also create this effect, as it draws attention to the shape of the hair, rather than the shape of your face.
When you have a haircut, the aim is to emphasize and compliment your positive features and minimize the attributes you don't like. However, there are other factors apart from the style which can compliment your shape and bring it to life, such as color, tint and texture of the cut.
But your hair stylist will see what face shape you are and will know what style will suit you straight away.
The most appealing to the eye is an oval shape, so you should try and go for a cut which will give this appearance It is also good to match your outfit around your hair, for example, a straight and elegant silky hair style, best matches a long silk dress and glamorous jewelry and a diamond tiara for a little extra sparkle.
On the other hand, a casual and comfy outfit when you are at home, would suit a more natural look, like wearing your hair curly, or having straight hair tied up with an funky hair-band.
For those lucky people who have the perfect oval shaped face, almost any style will suit you. If you have fine hair, then adding layers will give volume to your style.
For thick hair, try thinning it a little so you can add flicks to give a messy and casual look. Some celebrities with oval shapes include Cameron Diaz, Cindy Crawford and Jennifer Aniston
The wrong hair cut can change your face shape in a negative way, making the overall effect unflattering. This is why it is important to identify your face shape before you have your hair styled.

Long Hairstyles with fine or thin long hair worn straight usually will look very boring. However when pinned back it will appear to have more fullness especially if you roll the hair on curlers.
Long Wavy/Curly Hairstyles although classic and feminine are probably the most sexy. For round faces this hairstyle is better than completely straight hair. Either naturally wavy or gently permed it will conceal wide cheek bones.
Medium Length Hairstyles are easy to take care of and style than longer hairstyles yet more versatile than shorter hairstyles. Medium hairstyles match most facial shapes well as there is just enough hair complimenting the facial region and enhancing other features.
Short Hairstyles Short Hairstyles are generally best with an elongated oval face, are quick to blow dry or air-dry and can be styled with a little mouse or gel.
